General presentation

The Platform of Technological Investigation (PIT) of the University Hospital of Dijon is a research unit dedicated to the exploration of human motor skills. Integrated into the CIC 1432 (axis « READAPTIC: Rehabilitation and innovative technologies for health) and supported by the INSERM u1093 team (« Cognition, Action and Sensory-Motor Plasticity »), the platform ensures the continuum between fundamental research and its application in common clinical practice.
The PIT is positioned at the center of READAPTIC and provides the interface between academic research, healthcare services and industry. It focuses its activities on the conception, development and/or evaluation of innovative methods and devices (which can contribute to diagnosis, treatment, therapeutic education…), through collaborative research projects or services. It also has a clinical activity intended to analyze the locomotion of all types of patients in the context of care.

Locomotion analysis

The PIT is equipped with a Vicon optoelectronic system composed of 8 MXT10 cameras, 2 Vantage and 2 digital cameras (Vue). This system is also linked with 4 AMTI force platforms for dynamic analysis. It is also synchronized with WIFI surface EMGs (PICO) allowing the analysis of muscle activity. This system allows a holistic measure of locomotion (spatio-temporal parameters, angular kinematics, joint dynamics and muscle activities).
In order to realize a faster but less global measurement, the platform is also equipped with baropodometric platforms (ZEBRIS) allowing the analysis of the displacement of the center of pressure as well as the distribution of plantar pressures, and the spatio-temporal parameters of walking. This device can be used both in dynamic (walking) and static (posturagraphy).
The inertial sensors (Gait Up) can also be used to quickly collect spatio-temporal parameters and angular kinematics through accelerometers gyroscopes.

Bioenergetic analysis

The K5 portable system (COSMED) allows the analysis of gas exchanges during exercise (sub-maximal and maximal), in order to evaluate the metabolic capacities of healthy volunteers and patients.

Neuromuscular analysis

The evaluation of force and muscular moment is possible with the use of an isokinetic ergometer (BIODEX). It can be associated with surface EMG (PICO) and also with an electrical stimulator (Digitimer).

Other types of analysis

The use of actimeters (ActivPal & GENEActiv) allows an analysis of the sedentary time (rest) and activity of volunteers. One of the benefits of these devices is that they are used in real-life conditions, either directly from the house of the healthy or pathological volunteer.

The platform has also 3 complete virtual reality equipment (2 wired HTC Vive Pro headsets, 1 wireless Vive Focus 3 headset, 4 base stations and 7 trackers) allowing to develop more complex and ecological environments than those observed in laboratory.
